Disclaimer

Last updated: 14 July 2026

BuildCert (buildcert.nz) provides an independent, automated information service. It reads documents you supply and compiles a Compliance Information Report that organises information against the New Zealand Building Code. Please read this disclaimer carefully before using the service or relying on a report.

Information only — not certification or advice

A Compliance Information Report is information for your consideration only. It is not:

Automated service

Reports are generated by software. No BuildCert representative reviews your project or forms a professional opinion on it. The analysis is a tool that you direct and interpret.

You retain responsibility

You are responsible for the documents you provide, for verifying the information in any report, and for any decision you make or application you submit. The determination of compliance always rests with you and the relevant building consent authority. BuildCert does not lodge applications and does not communicate with any council or authority on your behalf.

Referenced standards and third-party material

Reports may reference standards (e.g. NZS, AS/NZS, ISO), appraisals, or other publications. Those documents are the copyright of their owners, are not reproduced by BuildCert, and must be obtained and read separately. A reference is a pointer, not verification against that document's text.

No liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BuildCert accepts no liability for any loss, damage, cost, or delay arising from the use of, or reliance on, a report or this service, including any decision made or application submitted in reliance on a report. This does not limit rights that cannot lawfully be excluded (see the Terms).

During our free beta the service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis and may change or be discontinued at any time.
